After the fire: Researching the economics of climate change adaptation at Multnomah Falls

Two years after a devastating fire in the Columbia River Gorge, Pamplin School of Business economics professor Ruth Dittrich—an expert in the economics of climate change adaptation—and a team of students spent the summer conducting research to help the US Forest Service better understand where to focus trail maintenance and rehabilitation efforts.

University of Portland School of Nursing dean Casey Shillam, associate dean Lindsay Benes, and assistant professor Kelly Fox have received a $50,000 grant from Rita & Alex Hillman Foundation. This grant will support their project “Nurses Leading Change in Palliative Care for the Houseless with Serious Mental Illness.”

The University of Portland has officially opened the new Dundon-Berchtold Hall, its latest example of instructional and scholarly investment. The building is the culmination of a multi-year philanthropic commitment by Amy Dundon-Berchtold, a member of the UP Board of Regents, and her husband Jim Berchtold, UP Class of 1963.

The Shiley School of Engineering is ranked among universities schools whose highest engineering degree offered is a bachelor's or master's.
