Gift from University of Portland engineering alumnus establishes Richard and Diane VanGrunsven Professor of Engineering

University of Portland has received a gift from engineering alumnus Dick VanGrunsven '61, for $30,000 to establish a new term professorship in the Shiley School of Engineering. Over the three-year term of the project, mechanical engineering professor Timothy Doughty will have the title “The Richard and Diane VanGrunsven Professor of Engineering.”

University of Portland hosts National Association of Teachers of Singing Classical Auditions; sends 7 UP students to regional finals

Some 160 high school and college students competed in the regional competition. Seven UP students qualified for the regional finals, including three students who placed first.

For the sixth consecutive year, University of Portland was the top Oregon school in Kiplinger's Personal Finance annual ranking of best values in its private universities category. University of Portland was ranked 51st nationwide among all private universities, up from 65th in 2014-2015.
