Pamplin School of Business receives top rankings

The University of Portland’s Pamplin School of Business was ranked best part-time MBA program in Portland by U.S. News & World Report. The Pamplin School of Business’ part-time MBA program is ranked #109 out of 475 possible schools, according to rankings released March 12.

The College of Arts and Sciences has received four external grants for undergraduate research and projects. These grants will support faculty research and K-12 outreach work in the local community. Collectively, these individual grants total almost $180,000, with an additional $50,000 in matching funds contributed by CAS.
University of Portland ranked 9th nationally for Peace Corps volunteers among peers

University of Portland is ranked 9th nationally among peer institutions as a top producer of Peace Corps volunteers according to a study released by the agency today. UP currently has 12 alumni serving around the world. Since the Peace Corps’ founding in 1961, more than 220 University graduates have become Peace Corp volunteers.
David VanHoomissen ’81 named Kent School District Teacher of the Year

University of Portland School of Education alumnus David VanHoomissen ’81 was named the 2019 Kent School District Teacher of the Year. VanHoomissen currently teaches sixth grade at Emerald Park Elementary school and has taught within the Kent School District for 25 years.
University of Portland receives grant to support science education and research from M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust

The University of Portland has received a $30,000 grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust for a new biology faculty position. This grant is part of the New Faculty Start-up Grants program and is the fifth award that the Murdock Trust has made to support science faculty at UP since 2013.
