Students currently living off-campus will be given equal priority with current on-campus students in an effort to level the field for students who weren't able to live in the residence halls this year. Students should apply by March 8 to be included in the housing lottery.

First-year students arrive on campus and move into residence hall on Thursday, August 22 beginning at 9 a.m. Students and their family members will be greeted by returning students at all nine of the residence halls with welcome signs and decorations as they carry in suitcases, comforters, computers, and other comforts from home.

Author Colum McCann’s 2009 novel Let the Great World Spin is the 2018-2019 selection for University of Portland’s annual ReadUP campaign and Schoenfeldt Distinguished Visiting Writers series. The lecture will take place in Buckley Auditorium on February 20, at 7 p.m. and is free, and open to the public. McCann will follow the lecture with a book signing.
