Governor Kotek appoints Pamplin School Dean Dr. Michael DeVaughn to the Port of Portland Commission
Business
July 14, 2023

The Port of Portland manages three airports, four marine terminals and five business parks with a mission to: "Build shared prosperity for the region through trade, commerce, and economic development." The commission is composed of nine members who meet monthly to discuss policy and aid in the guidance of the city's industries. These members are hand selected by the governor for the contributions to the city's business community.
In statement released by the Port of Portland on July 13th, DeVaughn's appointment was announced with enthusiastic support from Governor Kotek. “The Port of Portland plays a critical role in driving economic growth in our state, and Mike DeVaughn will bring extensive experience to his new role on the Commission,” said Governor Tina Kotek. “I’m confident that he will support the ongoing work that is an integral piece of our state’s economic prosperity.”
Dr. Michael DeVaughn stepped into the role of Dean at the university's Pamplin School of Business in 2021, bringing with him a wealth of private sector and academic experience.
Dr. DeVaughn came to UP from the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he served in various leadership roles at the institution including Faculty Director of the M.B.A. Program and Research Fellow in the Schulze School of Entrepreneurship. Prior to his recent academic appointments, he enjoyed a successful career with corporations including Ralston Purina, PepsiCo, and Fleet Financial Group (now Bank of America).
