Jordy Wolfand was awarded an National Science Foundation sub-award grant

Awards and Rankings
Jordy Wolfand, Professor in Civil Engineering in the Shiley School of Engineering, in partnership with Portland State University and Utah State University, was awarded a National Science Foundation sub-award grant to focus on the Microplastic Cycle Across the Columbia River Basin to the Ocean. The one-year grant is aimed at preparing the project team to develop a future large-scale research network to understand and reduce microplastics pollution in the Columbia River Basin. Undergraduate and graduate student researchers on the grant will study the effect of microplastic in the Oregon environment, sampling diverse sources of microplastics from both rural and urban areas. This one-year grant will also convene a series of workshops with industry representatives to better understand potential strategies to address microplastic sources and develop curriculum for a course to be offered across the three university campuses called Plastics in the Environment.
