The Portland Business Journal recently named University of Portland alum Scott Hatley ’01 as one of their “Executives of the Year.” Hatley is the executive director and co-founder (along with fellow UP alum Vail Horton '02) of Portland-area non-profit INCIGHT. INCIGHT’s mission is to "unlock the potential of people through employment, education and independence. INCIGHT serves individuals living with barriers, people with disabilities, single parents, veterans, welfare recipients, and justice involved."
Hatley was born with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic disorder that’s characterized by progressive muscle degeneration. After graduating from the University of Portland, Hatley co-founded INCIGHT to provide programs and services to those with barriers to help them lead a more independent life. The organization is now expanding its services to helping veterans, single parents and people with felony records get opportunities.
