Writing Style Guide - Formatting
Bible verses
Use the following form to punctuate Bible chapters and verses
Matthew 8:32–33
2 Samuel 7:18
Capital letters
DO NOT USE ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.
Captions
For photo captions, list subjects from left to right, using each person’s full name and title, and include “left to right” or “from left” for clarity.
For email addresses, please do not hyperlink or underline in printed materials. Emails should be hyperlinked for online materials.
webmaster@up.edu (printed)
webmaster@up.edu (online)
Font Style
Bold and italic copy should be used sparingly in body text. Underlining should not be used on webpages as it can be confused with hyperlinked text.
Spacing
Use a single space (not a double space—no matter what you were taught in typing class) at the end of a sentence, after a colon, and between a state name and zip code. Use only a single space, always and everywhere, in text material.
