About FGEN at UP

Welcome to our FGEN community at the University of Portland. We are are pleased that you are here on The Bluff! Whether you are entering college for the first time or are returning to campus, we want to congratulate you on the successes you have had in the past, and know that you will THRIVE as a member of our Pilot community!

Our FGEN community is dedicated to supporting first-generation students and their families as they navigate the transition from high school to college and beyond. College introduces new processes, terminology, resources, and opportunities that can often feel unfamiliar, leaving many students with unanswered questions. This webpage is designed to connect you with helpful information about campus programs, events, and resources that can support your journey at the University of Portland. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and tools you need to thrive academically, financially, socially, and personally throughout your time at UP.

Throughout the academic year, we host workshops, social events, and other events designed to support and celebrate our first-generation community. We also offer a variety of leadership opportunities that allow FGEN students to help shape programming and contribute to the growth of our community. We encourage you to explore the resources available on our FGEN website to learn more about the programs, services, and opportunities available to you.
