MLK Day ON 2026 Student Prize Drawing — Official Details

MLK Day ON (not a day off) Banner

MLK Day ON 2026: Freedom. Community. Solidarity. Justice.

The University of Portland community considers Martin Luther King, Jr. Day a day ON (not a day off), in the spirit of Dr. King’s question: “What are you doing for others?” Our MLK Day ON events reflect-in-action UP’s commitments to teaching and learning, faith and formation, and service and leadership.

Sponsors/Hosts: University of Portland Office of International Education, Diversity, and Inclusion and the Office of Student Affairs and Inclusive Excellence (the “Sponsors”), in partnership with the Office of the President, Campus Safety, and Athletics.

What it is: A free student prize drawing / giveaway designed to encourage participation in MLK Day ON 2026 signature events. No tickets are sold. No purchase necessary.

Eligibility

  • Open to currently enrolled University of Portland students during MLK Day ON 2026.
  • Winners must be able to verify student status (e.g., UP ID) to claim a prize.

How to Earn Entries

Students earn entries by participating in MLK Day ON 2026 signature events and completing the required check-in for each event.

Signature Events (2026)

  1. Day of Service — Sat, Jan 17, 2026
  2. Interfaith Vigil Celebration — Sun, Jan 18, 2026
  3. Keynote Panel — Mon, Jan 19, 2026 (in person or webinar option)

Entries

  • Attend + complete check-in at one signature event = 1 entry
  • Attend + complete check-in at two signature events = 2 entries
  • Attend + complete check-in at all three signature events = 4 entries (includes a bonus entry)

Entry limit: Maximum of 4 entries per student.

Check-In Requirement (Important)

In-person events: To earn an entry, students must have their Event Pass in the UP Mobile app scanned at the event check-in. Students are responsible for ensuring their Event Pass is scanned. If a pass is not scanned, an entry cannot be recorded.

Webinar attendance (Keynote Panel): Students who attend via webinar must:

  • Register using their UP email account, and
  • Attend the webinar individually under their own registration/account so attendance can be verified.

Attendance verification: The Sponsors will rely on available check-in/attendance records (e.g., Event Pass scan logs and webinar attendance reports). If attendance cannot be verified due to missing records or technical issues, an entry may not be recorded. Entries cannot be awarded when multiple students view under one account/registration, even if they are physically together.

Entry Period

Entries may be earned only by completing check-in/attendance verification at the signature events listed above during MLK Day ON 2026 (Sat, Jan 17 through Mon, Jan 19, 2026).
