Kay Dean Toran ’64, Hon. ’12
Kay serves as President & CEO of Volunteers of America – Oregon, leading a team of over 300 who offer direct professional services to at-risk children and families, connect the unhoused and those battling with addiction to resources, and support those re-entering society after incarceration.
Since her graduation from UP, Kay has led a brilliant career as an executive leader in government, the human services, and education.
The City of Portland and the State of Oregon have known few finer leaders. In fact, there’s a “Day of Appreciation for Kay Toran” on the books and, in 2012, she received an Honorary Degree from UP, thereby making her Doctor Kay Toran.
