Holy Cross Mission Week 2026
Holy Cross Mission Week is a week-long celebration of the charism and ministries of the Congregation of Holy Cross. As members of the University of Portland, we join the religious family of Holy Cross whose lives are dedicated to making God known, loved, and served worldwide. This dynamic initiative engages the diverse ministries and apostolates of Holy Cross, celebrating their shared charism and deepening their connection to the mission as educators in the faith.

Sunday 1/18 — Vocations Day
Celebrating Holy Cross religious at UP
- 10:30 AM - Sunday Mass at the Chapel of Christ the Teacher, with newly ordained Fr. Aaron Morris, CSC, UP ’12. Learn about the men in formation and listen to some of their stories at the Holy Cross site: Vocations
- 7:00 PM - Vigil Prayer service for MLK Day with the Portland Interfaith Gospel Choir at Chapel of Christ the Teacher

Monday 1/19 — MLK, Jr (National Holiday) – Holy Cross Service in US
Celebrating Holy Cross Service in the US and UP's Mission Value: Dignity
- 3:00 PM (PT) What Does the Dream Demand Now? (Open to the public) - MLK Day ON 2026 Multidisciplinary Panel: Freedom. Community. Solidarity. Justice. Join us for the keynote conversation of MLK Day ON 2026. In dialogue with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech (shared the night before through the Interfaith Vigil of student readings), this panel invites our community to ask: What stories do we tell about freedom, community, solidarity, and justice—and what stories must we tell differently now?

Celebrating the Founder of the Holy Cross and UP's Mission Value: Community
- 10:30 AM - Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration in conjunction with the entire Holy Cross community throughout the world in honor of Bl. Basil Moreau, CSC
- 12:05 PM - Mass for liturgical feast of Bl. Basil Moreau, CSC, at the Chapel of Christ the Teacher. Prayers of the Holy Cross Tradition.

Friday 1/23 — Celebrating Collaboration
Board Retreat Day off campus (Engagement)
- Learn about UP connections to a Holy Cross parish in Old Town Portland called St. Andre Bessette Parish. Volunteers, including our students, regularly offer Friday evening hospitality at 5 PM at the “Andre Café” for those experiencing houselessness and economic challenges. Book launch with Fr. Pat Hannon, C.S.C.
Fr. Pat has published a new collection of essays, reflecting on his experience of walking the Camino. You can find his book "From Glory to Glory: A Pilgrim's Notes from the Badlands of Grace" in the UP Bookstore.
Holy Cross Homilies
Each Sunday the Holy Cross priests offer thoughtful and prayerful homilies at Mass in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher. If you're unable to join us in person for Mass, you can catch up on those homilies at the Campus Ministry YouTube channel. New homilies are posted weekly each Sunday afternoon.
