EARLY DISMISSAL BEFORE DESIGNATED HOLIDAYS or for SUMMER FRIDAYS PROGRAM

The University provides an early dismissal at 3:00 p.m. on the business day prior to designated holidays, including Easter Observance and Thanksgiving.

Also, the University celebrates our Summer Fridays Program with early dismissal at 1:00 p.m. on select Fridays during the summer.

Offices remain open and operational until the scheduled early dismissal, with supervisors coordinating coverage as needed. Classes will continue as scheduled, and employees should plan accordingly.

How to Enter Early Dismissal in Paycom?

Non-exempt (hourly) employees: Eligible staff employees should request “Early Dismissal” in Paycom for any remaining hours from the announced early dismissal time to the end of the employee's scheduled shift.

Example:

An employee scheduled to work 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (with a 30-minute lunch break):

  • Record actual hours worked (e.g., 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.)
  • Under Time Off Request, enter Early Dismissal for remaining hours of the normally scheduled workday (e.g., 1.5 hours and indicate the starting time as 3:00 p.m.)
  • Total hours should equal the employee’s regular workday, 8 hours in this example.

If approved to work beyond 3:00 p.m.:

  • Record actual hours worked (e.g., until 3:30 p.m.)
  • Under Time Off Request, enter Early Dismissal for the remaining balance of hours for the normally scheduled workday (e.g., 1.0 hour and indicate the start time as 3:30 p.m.)
  • Total hours should equal the employee’s regular workday, 8 hours in this example.

Exempt employees: Eligible staff employees do not need to take any action. Regular pay will continue.

Additional Notes:

  • All employees who are off work due to scheduled vacation, leave, or use of sick time do not qualify for Early Dismissal and should record the full day using sick or vacation time.
  • Holidays are preloaded in Paycom timesheets for eligible employees may be viewed under the Time Management tab.
  • Part-time. temporary. or contract employees are not eligible for Early Dismissal. Supervisors may consider flexing schedules where appropriate.
  • Student employees may not work during office closures.
