Title IX Process Overview (text only)
University of Portland Response to Reports of Sexual or Gender-Based Harassment, Misconduct, or Violence
- Report of harassment, misconduct, or violence received by; Campus Safety, Residence Life, Assistant Director for Student Conduct and Community Standards, UP faculty or staff, or Title IX Coordinator.
- Report shared with Title IX Coordinator for students
- Report received and documented as required by the US Department of Education
- Student invited to meet with Title IX Coordinator and presented option, including accommodations.
- It is ascertained whether there is an imminent threat.
- If yes, a UP investigation must be initiated. The student may also make choices from the options outlined below.
- If no, the student may make choices from the options outlined below.
Options provided to students
- Student accommodations
- Mental health services (on and off campus)
- Medical services (on and off campus)
- Do nothing/take no action
- Portland Police Bureau report
- UP investigation and/or Student Conduct Process (informal and formal resolutions)
Information regarding options provided to students
- Student may choose more than one option at a time.
- All options are provided to a student multiple times.
- On and off campus resources provided to students.
- Student’s choice is supported and facilitated by Campus Safety, Residence Life, Assistant Director for Student Conduct and Community Standards, Title IX, etc.
- One goal of response process is to minimize the number of times a student needs to share perspective/information.
