What is Buddy UP 2.0?
Buddy UP 2.0 is a mentorship program between new and experienced University of Portland School of Nursing alumni. It is an extension of the School of Nursing’s undergraduate mentorship program, Buddy UP, which was launched in Fall 2016. Buddy UP consists of junior and senior nursing students, who voluntarily serve as mentors to freshman and sophomore students. The mentor and mentee form a relationship that fosters empowerment, learning, and growth. Similarly, the Pilot Nurse Alumni Chapter (PNAC) would seek interested alumni to participate in Buddy UP 2.0 as mentors or mentees. Recent and experienced alumni will have an opportunity to mentor other alumni and senior students.
Why is the Pilot Nurse Alumni Chapter launching Buddy UP 2.0?
PNAC is launching Buddy UP 2.0 to enrich the Pilot nurse community beyond alumni’s years on The Bluff. Nursing is a rewarding, challenging profession that epitomizes lifelong learning. Through Buddy UP 2.0, PNAC aspires to ease the transition from nursing school to working life by fostering mentorship and professional growth.
