Ken Pifer began his service as Interim Vice President for Financial Affairs on January 9, 2025. Prior to this appointment, Ken served as UP’s Associate Vice President for Finance & Controller.
Ken has held senior nonprofit accounting and higher education appointments with CPA firm Capin Crouse LLP, The Claremont Colleges, Willamette University, and UP – the latter three providing him with 20 years of experience as a Controller/AVP in higher education. He has spoken at higher education oriented conferences for accounting and tax professionals and is a highly respected colleague among his peers in the business offices of private colleges in the west.
He graduated with a BA in Business Administration (Accounting and Finance) from The Master’s College in Santa Clarita, CA and holds an active CPA license (California). He has also served on several accreditation review teams for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
Ken is a proud Pilot Parent - his son Josh is a 2023 graduate of the University of Portland.
